FULL MOON IN SCORPIO | ANURĀDHĀ NAKSHATRA | VEDIC ASTROLOGY
The Moon achieves fullness on May 23rd at 2:53 AM (BST) in Mars-ruled Scorpio and in Anurādhā Nakshatra, the star of devotion and divine friendship. Venus, Jupiter, and Sun in Taurus, combust at the time of this full moon, along with the current Mars and Rahu conjunction, could create intense or even explosive energies.
The Moon is debilitated and uncomfortable in Scorpio, making it hard to face conflicts and resolve emotions. However, Anurādhā’s deity, Mitra, who shines light on cooperation and the gifts of friendship, shows that the way to conflict resolution is to soften the anger and intensity, put away the weapons, move towards deep surrender, connect with a higher vision, and extend instead, the hand of friendship.
ANURĀDHĀ NAKSHATRA
The Moon in Anurādhā offers transformation of that which is murky and hidden, like the roots of a lotus flower — a symbol of this nakshatra — into beauty and goodness. With the support of a healing community and nurturing friendships, grow towards unfolding your truth and connect with a greater purpose that offers you the fulfilment that comes from belonging. In other words, tend to your roots to feel connected to the world.
Saturn is the planetary ruler of this star space and currently aspects this full moon. He encourages the necessity to uphold personal boundaries and to slow down communication and actions. The volatilities we may experience in this moon cycle provide an opportunity to grow from a place of deep understanding of our own motivations and desires. Saturn’s disciplinary influence teaches us to bloom without being lost in the ‘mud’ or noise of others.
In this moon cycle, strike a balance between listening to others with compassion and patience and vocalising your needs. In the spirit of friendship, disarm your intense feelings by focussing on your spiritual sādhana. Shift your personal perspective from the roots to the shoots — instead of seeing things from underneath the muddy water, view situations from the lotus flower.
Beauty is hidden in darkness, and this is what vulnerable and devoted Anurādhā expresses: there is emotional courage and sensual expression living in the depths of your sensitivity. Creativity can be the awakener and the bridge to successful partnerships and the key to problem-solving.
This full moon shares the wisdom that unconditional love and loyalty inspires true friendships. It is a time to slow down, self-reflect and flow with the changes that support positive outcomes.
May 23rd also marks Buddha Pūrṇimā, a celebration of the birth of Siddhartha Gautama who reminds us of the qualities of mental and emotional equanimity, ahimsa (non-violence) and peace: There is always another way to get to where you’re going.
FULL MOON INTENTIONS:
Connect with individuals who share the same values and are on a similar path. Gather in kindred community, offer your support, and find reciprocation of your energy. Pursue comfort, sweetness, beauty, and goodness in relationships. Seek out your soul family.
