VEDIC ASTROLOGY | JANUARY NEW MOON 2024 | MOON IN SAGITTARIUS (DHANU RĀŚI)
On January 11th, 2024, at 11:57 am GMT, the New Moon occurs in Sagittarius within the nakshatra of Pūrvāṣāḍhā.
In the previous moon cycles, we navigated the release of emotions and the shedding of the past. Now, under the optimistic and purpose-driven influence of Sagittarius, it’s time to find clarity and deeper meaning behind the actions we take in this New Moon cycle.
Sagittarius symbolises optimism, strength, and dharma, urging us to close past cycles, release inner resistance, and flow with the coming changes.
Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, and Pūrvāṣāḍhā, ruled by Venus, two planetary giants, act as Gurus guiding us in both our spiritual and material realms. Mercury and Mars also have their say as they station with Sun and Moon in Sagittarius, awakening our motivations and forward movement.
Consider this first New Moon of the Year, the actual time to get clear on resolutions and goals!
PŪRVĀṢĀḌHĀ NAKSHATRA
The meaning of Pūrvāṣāḍhā is ‘early victory’ and is known as the ‘undefeated’ or ‘invincible’ star.
Its symbol includes the tusk of an elephant — a connection to Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the one who blesses new beginnings. The elephant symbology also signifies the star’s innate strength to push through barriers and achieve our goals.
Pūrvāṣāḍhā offers Varchograna Shakti, the power of invigoration. This sense of rejuvenation comes through confronting the challenge that blocks our path.
The deity of this celestial region is Āpas, the goddess of cosmic waters. Much like the relentless tide of a river moving towards its goal of meeting the ocean, Pūrvāṣāḍhā urges us to focus on the collective impact we aspire to make. Take time to revisit your vision, connect with the deeper meaning behind your desires, and consider the profound impact your actions can have in serving humanity.
January’s New Moon signals a journey towards purification, flow, and inner vitality. Notice what is sapping your energy. What limiting beliefs must go? Consider what, instead, offers nourishment and growth.
Look at things through an expanded lens and focus on actions that empower your path and positively contribute to those you serve and support.
